Now that youβre in the loop, letβs see those numbers! β
πΒ Products on the Rise
Product #1 - Microneedling (+186%)
Glowing skin is always in! Microneedling has been steadily rising in popularity as a non-invasive skincare treatment to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars.
Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that involves using a device with tiny needles to create small punctures in the skin.
The process of microneedling triggers the body's natural healing process.
The small punctures stimulate collagen production and improves skin texture and elasticity.
Many skincare clinics now offer microneedling as a service, and at-home microneedling devices are also available for those who prefer to DIY.
The rise in popularity of microneedling can be attributed to its effectiveness in treating a variety of skin concerns, as well as the trend towards more natural and non-invasive skincare treatments.
Whoβs Doing It?
Sdara Skincare - This Amazon skincare brand is generating an estimated $70k/mo with their derma microneedling roller. The brand is also on trend with other products like Vitamin C Serum and Gua Sha sets.
Kitsch - This product was rated βBest At Home Dermarollerβ by HarperBazaar. The Amazon listing is doing around $10k/mo in sales.
Product #2 - Creatine (+146%)
Gains, Gains, Gains! The use of creatine as a supplement to enhance athletic performance and promote muscle growth is becoming a popular choice among health enthusiasts.
Creatine helps the body produce energy during high-intensity exercise which can lead to increased strength, power, and endurance.
Athletes and bodybuilders have used this supplement for years, but it's become more mainstream in recent years.
The benefits of creatine include:
Increased muscle mass by increasing the water content in muscle cells which can lead to a temporary increase in muscle size.
Improved strength and power output during high-intensity exercise, such as weightlifting or sprinting.
Improved endurance during high-intensity activities
Improved cognitive function as some studies have suggested that creatine may improve memory and processing speed.
An untapped trend within the space is the demand for flavored versions of the product.
As the demographic for creatine widens, consumers are seeking a more enjoyable way to consume the supplement. This is giving way to fruity and exciting flavors for creatine.
Whoβs Doing It?
Ghost - One of the ONLY companies capitalizing on the trend of flavored creatine. Ghost is doing $100M+ in sales with their pre-workout, creatine, and energy drinks. Ghost is selling a Sour Warheads flavor of creatine.
π° Industry Shift
The Battle For Short-Form Content: Youtube vs Instagram
Attention is the new oil! While TikTok maintains its position as the most popular short-form video application (for now), the race for 2nd place is heating up.
Platforms are fighting to drive, engage, and retain creators/users on their short-form content apps.
The battle is moving into the third stage. Retention.
Both YouTube and Instagram joined the short-form game in 2020, and while growth was neck and neck, in mid-2022 that changed.
YouTube ate Instagramβs lunch.
Alphabet, Googleβs parent company just announced that there were 50 Billion daily views on YouTube Shorts, thatβs billion with a βBβ.
How was YouTube able to capture and retain so many eyeballs?
It starts with YouTubeβs core competency of video, people go to YouTube to watch videos, and if theyβre pushed interesting content in short form, even better.
How was YouTube able to drive talented video creators to upload short-form videos?
Money. Simple as that.
YouTube launched their Partner Program that allows Shorts creators to take a share of the revenue generated on their videos. 45% to be exact.
So while TikTok continues to pay pennies YouTube will pay dollars.
And Instagram pays in high-fives.
These are heavy motivating factors for where the new era of talent brings their focus. It all comes down to where they can drive the most reach and where they will be compensated greatest for it.

Simple Modern (+691%)
Sipping in style! The drink tumbler craze is in full swing and companies like Simple Modern are capitalizing on this hydration trend!
Simple Modern offers a wide range of products, from water bottles and tumblers to coffee mugs and wine glasses.
They also sell a collection of licensed kid products with branding from Disney and Nickelodeon.
The company has gained tons of attention on TikTok with super fans showing off their Simple Modern products. The hashtag #simplemodern has 30M views.
The drinkware brand is projected to do $130M in revenue this year.
Simple Modernβs CEO Mike Beckham agreed to a Q&A for this edition of TrendingData.
Hereβs how it went:
Q: Describe becoming a successful founder that goes against the common narrative.
A: For me, becoming a successful founder has required great people skills and lots of empathy. We tend to celebrate the stories of founders that are more ruthless in their drive to succeed, but most people want to work for someone who they believe in as a person.
Q: What are 3 keys to growing on Amazon
A: Creating product differentiation (identifying white space), excellent product quality, and great photography
Q: How has licensing shifted the outcome of your business
A: Licensing has been a great business choice for 3 reasons.
1. We have a lot of female customers that are also mom's. A lot of licensed products are geared around kids and we have had great product/market fit.
2. It allows us to leverage our skills in ornamentation (design/decoration). This is one of our company's calling cards.
3. It is a heavily protected business. Very difficult to break into, but much easier to defend from competition than most businesses.
Q: Walk us through the process of a new product launch
A: New product launches start with surveying our customers. Then we allocated resources to invest in a new product and define the value proposition to the customer. Next it goes to our product development team for design. Our manufacturing team handles the testing and production, and then we go to market with a digital-first strategy.
Simple Modern is a perfect example of what happens when a product meets the right group of customers.
Keep an eye on this company as they continue their growth in the hydration space!
