Hey Trend Watchers! — Nick here.
These products are exploding!
Let’s get right into it! But I’ve got a question…
Are you subscribed? If not, you know what to do.
Okay, I know why you’re here, let’s skip the small talk and see the data ↓
📈 Products on the Rise
Product #1 - Cargo Pants (+335%)
Utility clothing turned trendy! Until recently, cargo shorts and pants were mostly for those who used their extra storage for functionality, now, it’s turned into a fashion piece.
But we’ve been here before! Time and time again, we’ve seen the recurrence of old fashion trends, whether it’s low-rise jeans or turtlenecks, fashion moves in a cycle.
I included this graph in a previous report, but it holds true, it’s a visualization of the repetition trends in fashion.
We’re back at the “rise” point for cargo pants and there is still some way to go. We will likely see many brands releasing their version of cargo pants for the upcoming season.
Product #2 - Beef Tallow (+324%)
Multi-purpose cooking oil. This kitchen item is trending for its application across multiple industries from soaps to wood treatment.
Beef tallow is a rendered form of beef fat that is primarily used as a cooking oil but is gaining popularity for its use in many different scenarios.
Some of these include:
Soaps
Candles
Skin Balm
Wood Lubricant
Beef tallow contains fatty acids in similar proportion to human skin making it easily absorbed.
It is particularly marketed to moisturize skin, heal rashes, cuts, and other inflammatory skin conditions.
Who’s Doing It?
THESULU - This Etsy-based company has over 100k sales from their animal product collection. A 7lb bucket of tallow is being sold for $45.
PrimarilyPure - Sells a skincare line of body butters with the main ingredient being grass-fed beef tallow. PrimarilyPure is driving over 100k monthly visitors to their website.
📰 Industry Shift
Luxury Vinyl Plank (+150%)
Luxury look at a budget price. Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring is making its way into millions of homes due to its elegant appearance and low cost.
LVP flooring may be one of the largest shifts in home decor in quite some time.
Homeowners and home builders alike are favoring the flooring for it’s benefits which include:
Durability, LVP flooring is considered extremely long-lasting and hardwearing.
Waterproof which makes them ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, and humid regions.
Easy to maintain, LVP is as easy to clean as authentic wood or tile.
Lower cost than the alternative such as real hardwood.
Now, there are some cons. It’s quite tough to remove if you change your mind and it also doesn’t “feel” like hardwood when you’re walking on it barefoot.
However, these cons are small in consideration of the many benefits LVP offers.
🚨 Business Radar
The Pink Stuff (+1,000%)
“A miracle cleaner” Consumers online are raving over a new pink-colored cleaning paste that is advertised as “tough on stains but gentle on surfaces.” Some say it’s a gimmick.
The pink stuff began seeing popularity as TikTok creators under the hashtag #CleanTok made before and after videos showing the cleaner wiping away dirt and grime with ease.
But is it true, or all clever marketing?
Researchers at the University of Massachusetts Lowell conducted a series of studies to see if The Pink Stuff could live up to its claims and out-clean other household cleaners.
The results were interesting.
It appears that The Pink Stuff did in fact have the ability to clean as well or better on some surfaces when compared to products like Lysol. It did fall short on surfaces like plastic and mirrors.
The Pink Stuff boasts that they do not include harmful chemicals in their formula.
Natural alternatives are becoming popular across many markets such as healthcare, beauty, and in this case, household items.
The main listing for The Pink Stuff on Amazon has 160k+ reviews. Nearly all positive.
