Product #1 - Mushroom Coffee (+669%)
Start your day with shrooms! As people are looking to replace coffee with healthier alternatives, mushroom coffee has become a trending substitute.
Let’s be real though, mushroom coffee isn’t always a complete replacement. Some brands are essentially selling instant coffee with mushroom powder added.
According to Cleveland Clinic, there can be some benefits from drinking mushroom coffee which include:
Better sleep (due to less caffeine)
Reduced anxiety (due to less caffeine)
Reduced inflammation
Boosted immune system
Take these benefits with a grain of salt as there isn’t much research to back up the claims.
One thing is for certain, consumers are demanding coffee alternatives, and the companies supplying it are making a killing.
Who’s Doing It?
MUDWTR - A coffee-free alternative. Created with an organic mushroom blend and cacao. MUDWTR pioneered the mushroom coffee space and did a projected $60m in revenue for 2021.
RYZE - Mushroom blend with coffee added. This Boston-based competitor to MUDWTR has received over $2m in funding. Reviews of this product are mixed with some saying it tastes like plastic.
Product #2 - Period Underwear (+755%)
“One of my biggest fears.” 86% of women stated they’ve begun their menstrual cycle in public without the adequate hygiene products needed.
Period underwear, also known as leakproof underwear is a microfiber-lined panty that absorbs any flow which is not contained by feminine hygiene products.
This is a massive confidence booster for women and is becoming incredibly popular for those who play sports or are wearing garments in which a leak would be noticeable.
Who’s Doing It?
Knix - Canadian-based company and strong player in the industry. An 80% acquisition of Knix was completed for $320m earlier this year.
Thinx - Another massive brand in this space. Thinx is generating over $100m in annual revenue.

KBBQ - Korean Barbecue (+194%)
I hope you’re hungry! Korean barbecue (KBBQ) has moved from being strictly an Eastern Asian cuisine to nearly every US city.
At a KBBQ restaurant, each customer cooks their own meat on a grill in the center of the table.
According to this Medium article, typical KBBQ dishes include:
Bibimbap - Mixed rice dish
Bulgogi - Sliced beef dish
Galbi - Marinated beef short ribs
Japchae - Noodle stir-fry dish
Google search volume in the US for “Korean barbecue near me” increased by 76% since 2019.

“You’re not a dish, you’re a man” This organic soap company has scaled to over $100m in sales through their viral YouTube Ads.
